70 pounds of pure love

She may be getting a bit white / gray in the face and has arthritis in her shoulder, but she will always be my baby girl. The tall blonde who loves to shake her tail (as Karen describes both she and I!) has always been young at heart. She has stuck by my side through thick and thin: from break-ups to promotions to supporting Team Cheerios in our sand volleyball games to cross-country road trips to moving to California to marrying Mike (she had to change her last name too you know!) to adopting Jerry to sticking up for me during Toby wars and to the addition of our son Cavin...she has always been there for me so she deserves her own post.

I love you my baby girl!

Two Hot Blondes

Cavin has developed quite the obsession with Sandy. They have become pretty much best buds.

Here's how it goes: Sandy lays on the floor while toe-head toddler runs up to her screaming. This usually sends Jerry running for Mike. Cavin then assumes this position:

And begins climbing back and forth back and forth back and forth across Sandy's back.

Eventually, Sandy gets tired of this game and stands up flipping said toddler on the ground which usually results in tears or yelling. The reaction isn't normally due to being hurt but rather him being upset that the fun game is over. Once he has finished yelling or crying, Mr. Toddler runs on over to find Sandy again.

He doesn't forget about Jerry though! [Cue the "ewwws" and "groooossss"!]

One hot blond

Since Cavin arrived, we feel like the dogs haven't received the attention that they once did. And as the weather got colder I realized that Sandy hadn't nearly gotten in as many swimming opportunities as she was able to in her younger years. So I insisted we head out to Berkeley a few weekends ago so our 'hot blond' could do one of the things she does best: run after flying objects amidst crashing waves and seaweed.

Notice the Frisbee up in the air way out in front of her. Note to everyone: we arrived at the beach with one Frisbee and left with the same one. This girl is TALENTED when it comes to finding that thing in the ocean. Although she nearly gave momma a panic attack, it is always fascinating to watch!

Cavin enjoyed the sights too! After all, this was his first sight of the ocean, sand, beach, and Sandy's swimming!

Naturally, Jerry wanted no part of the water. In fact, in true Jerry form he was so excited to jump in the car and go somewhere; however, once we were there, he waited at the back and constantly gave us clues that he was ready to go. The only time he came close to the water was to be on the recipients end of a hug from Mike.

Another one of Cavin and I bundled up. Don't be fooled by Sandy's swimming, it was COLD that day.

Two very happy furry creatures...

BOO!

Don't be scared!!! In case you cannot tell, that's Sandy under there showing off her Halloween costume (and her mom's first effort at making anything remotely to clothes). At one point I told Mike that I needed a sewing machine. I never thought those words would ever come out of my mouth. I almost had to call my good friend Jen in New York for some tailoring advice...she's a successful student in fashion school and made Jerry's favorite dog bed (amongst many clothes, purses, and Rosemont quilts).

As you can tell, I'm getting a LOT done during our move. Who says a move should ruin the holiday spirit?? Not me!

As for Jerry, well, Mike said he would worry about Jerry's costume so I'll keep you posted... (I bought another white sheet just in case.)

And no one is getting a costume on Toby. Do you think we are crazy?
